The MAT™ asks candidates to respond to situational questions that help assess critical thinking ability and business knowledge. The MAT™ measures the following:
| Problem Solving | How well a person can evaluate information and options, give relevant considerations when making decisions, analyze and interpret data, and react appropriately to changing situations. |
| Planning and Organizing | A person's ability to develop long-range plans and short-term activities, including setting business objectives and production and product delivery schedules. |
| Communication | An individual's ability to present information formally and informally in both written and oral contexts. Also helps assess the ability to communicate with customers, staff, peers and supervisors. |
| Supervisory Skills | An individual's skill level in planning, organizing and overseeing the work of subordinates. Also helps assess a person's ability to manage work flow efficiently. |
| Administrative Skills | An individual's ability to implement and monitor actions to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Also helps identify the ability to distribute information, allocate staff and maintain records or documents. |
